The GP2Y0A51SK0F is the shortest-range analog distance sensor we carry, featuring a detection range of 0.8″ to 6″ (2 cm to 15 cm). The shorter range gives you higher resolution measurements, and the low minimum detection distance makes this sensor great for detecting very close objects. The sensor uses IR Light which allows for very narrow angle detection. The distance is indicated by an analog voltage, making this sensor very easy to use. The output voltage varies between 0 and 2.5V depending on the distance of the object from the sensor.
The GP2Y0A51SK0F is a distance measuring sensor, composed of an integrated combination of PSD (position sensitive detector), IRED (infrared emitting diode), and a signal processing circuit. The environmental temperature and the operating duration are not influenced easily on the distance detection because of adopting the triangulation method. This device outputs the voltage corresponding to the detection distance. So this sensor can also be used as a proximity sensor.Â
